“If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.”
At RWC Western Sydney, we don’t just work together, we thrive together. Our recent annual team retreat embodied this spirit of unity, growth, and purpose. And together, we are unstoppable.
The Leaders Forum
We kicked off with a Leaders Forum, gathering directors and leaders to delve into positive organisational communication. We explored our own leadership styles and discussed the importance of adapting them to suit individual team members’ career stages and motivations. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with leaders expressing gratitude for the opportunity to seek advice from their peers. There’s a strong consensus to make these discussions a regular part of our agenda moving forward.
Following that, the remainder of the team joined us, and we gathered for dinner together. Enthusiasm filled the air as we eagerly discussed our plans for the upcoming full team retreat.
Full Team Retreat
MORNING WALK
We started off the day with an early morning walk with each other, to take in the beautiful views of The Three Sisters as well as mentally prepare ourselves for the day ahead.
FIRST SESSION
We dug deep into our team’s core values and aspirations, understanding that we’re here to learn, be honest, and grow together. We embraced the concept of “Rumble with Vulnerability,” encouraging each other to engage in challenging conversations, expressing ourselves authentically by embracing our true selves and mustering the courage to show up authentically.
But our ultimate collective goal? To be the best commercial agency in Western Sydney. For us, being the best means leading in service, agility, and industry expertise. Being committed to fostering strong internal and external relationships, and viewing career growth as synonymous with personal growth. Together, we strive to operate like a high-performance sports team, valuing each member’s expertise and contribution.
SECOND SESSION
Next was our DISC Profile activity, which provided a profound opportunity for team bonding. By unpacking our individual personality styles, we gained invaluable insights into how best to interact with one another. Understanding these differences fosters empathy and collaboration, laying the groundwork for stronger relationships and more effective teamwork.
THIRD SESSION
We then looked into our team dynamics and the five keys to building effective teams.
From psychological safety to a sense of impact, we explored how these pillars shape our collective identity. We engaged in candid discussions about whether these dynamics are fully realised within our teams, identifying areas for growth and improvement. This introspection was instrumental in fostering a culture of accountability and mutual respect.
